The Food & Farm for Health project was presented at the TIACA Executive Summit in Warsaw, bringing its key findings to an international audience of air cargo and supply chain leaders.
Presented by Pharma.Aero Secretary General Frank Van Gelder, the session highlighted the growing interdependence between healthcare access, food security, and resilient supply chains.
“In an increasingly unstable world, access to healthcare and access to nutrition are becoming more interconnected than ever. The project’s findings highlight a simple but powerful reality: the same cold-chain failures that lead to food waste can also prevent life-saving medicines from reaching patients. In a world increasingly affected by geopolitical instability, supply chain disruptions, and capacity constraints, resilience is no longer a sector-specific challenge, it is a shared responsibility.”

Developed jointly by Pharma.Aero and TIACA, in collaboration with the Cool Chain Association, Humanitarian Logistics Association, and Fairmiles, the Food & Farm for Health initiative explores how greater collaboration between the pharmaceutical, perishables, humanitarian, and logistics sectors can strengthen global supply chains while improving access to essential products.
The project has already resulted in a comprehensive White Paper, complemented by a dedicated podcast episode, providing valuable insights into how cross-sector collaboration can help build more resilient and sustainable supply chains for the future.
While the research phase of the project has now concluded, its impact continues. This autumn, Pharma.Aero and its partners will convene stakeholders from across the pharmaceutical, perishables, logistics, NGO, and policy communities for a dedicated awareness event. The objective is to translate the project’s findings into practical recommendations, identify shared challenges, support future training initiatives, and contribute to policies that enhance resilience, sustainability, and equitable access to healthcare and nutrition.
