Pharma Logistics Masterclass Recognized in Tokyo as Momentum Builds for 5th Edition in Japan

COVID-19 seen through the glasses of world opinion leaders of the Life Science and MedTec industry together with experts of the airfreight industry

In relation to the current COVID-19 crisis and the impact on the Life Science and MedTec air freight sector, Pharma.Aero, in collaboration with The STAT Trade Times (STAT Times), will be launching 3 executive webinars. The webinars will feature a line-up of world opinion leaders and experts from air freight industry.

“The interest from both the airfreight operators and industry organizations is overwhelming,” says Frank Van Gelder, Secretary General of Pharma.Aero and moderator of the 3 webinars. “But especially the support and attendance confirmation we received from 10 world leading pharmaceutical companies to be actively involved in the webinars, definitely underlines the need and the interest,” he added.

On May 7, 2020 the first webinar will kick off with, “Current impact of COVID-19 on Life Science and MedTec air cargo industry” The webinar focusses mainly on the acute and short term impact of this crisis. Together with The International Air Cargo Assocation’s (TIACA) Chairman Steven Polmans, representatives of world leading life science companies such as Eddy Wygaert of Pfizer, Jeroen Janssens of GSK and Mathijs Luts of Abbott will share their opinions on the subject. This will be followed by a round table discussion with the industry experts who include Bruno Guella of Montevideo Free Airport and Board Member of Pharma.Aero; Andy Faes of Expeditors and Geoksuan Ong of Singapore Airlines.

On May 28, 2020, the second in the three-part webinar series themed The Day After COVID-19: How Collaboration Can Prepare us for the Impact” will feature global opinion leaders zooming in on the short and midterm scenarios where collaboration between all stakeholders and Life Science and MedTec industry are more imperative than ever. Ruud Vander Geer of MSD, Rita O’Sullivan of Zoetis and Andrea Grüber of IATA would be giving their views. This will be succeeded by a round table discussion to be led by Nathan De Valck of Brussels Airport and Chairman of Pharma.Aero, alongside with Nina Heinz of DHL and Christine Richard of Amerijet.

On June 18, 2020, the final session of the three-part series will close with the theme “The  Future: will Life Science and MedTec Air Cargo Supply Chain be Completely Different?”. The agenda of the final session is to predict structural changes and impacts resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. Prof. Wouter Dewulf of the University of Antwerp and Academic Director of the C-MAT master programme in air and seafreight, will share his opinion on the impact and possible scenarios to be expected. He will be joined by opinion leaders representing pharmaceutical companies including Baxter, Novartis and Johnson&Johnson. The subsequent round table discussion will be represented by Jaisey Yip of Changi Airport Group and Pharma.Aero’s vice-chairman and Alex Leung of Cathay Pacific. More names will be confirmed in the following weeks.

The webinars are scheduled from 1 to 2.30 pm CET. Each webinar will be followed by an executive summary.
