Athens International Airport joins Pharma.Aero as a full member

Athens International Airport, the largest international airport in Greece and the Balkans region, has joined Pharma.Aero as a full member.

AIA received its IATA CEIV Pharma certification in 2023. Since 2016, AIA is the first carbon neutral airport in Greece and, as of 2019, through its initiative “Route 2025”, it has announced its official commitment to achieve Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2025, 25 years ahead of the target of 2050 set by ACI Europe. Also, it is the first European airport to launch multi-modal flows in the form of the combination of maritime, road, and air traffic.

Cargo Development at Athens International Airport (AIA) oversees all freight and mail handling activities, acting as the coordinator and facilitator of the airport’s cargo community and spearheading new developments.

By integrating Athens International Airport into our collaborative network, Pharma.Aero not only acknowledges the airport's regional importance but also strengthens its footprint in the Mediterranean region. We are thrilled to collaborate and leverage our industry expertise to drive innovative projects that yield substantial value for our industry and enhance access to healthcare for people worldwide.

Trevor Caswell, Chair of Pharma.Aero

At AIA we strongly believe in collaboration and synergies. By joining Pharma.Aero we will not only join an international network of experts and gain valuable knowledge that we can transfer to our local partners, but we will also support Pharma.Aero’s important mission of promoting a seamless pharmaceutical supply chain.

Lina Palli, IATA CEIV Pharma Coordinator, Athens Cargo Community
