ATMP Test Shipments Launch Under PTL Gateway Project (Antwerp – Dallas)
The official launch of the Precision Therapy Logistics Gateway (PTLG) project was announced at the ATMP Supply Chain Conference & SIS.Healthcare Conference, marking a significant milestone in the transportation of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs). Over the next few months, 150 test shipments of cell material and blood samples will be transported between Antwerp (Belgium) and Dallas (USA). Comprehensive monitoring and quality analysis will help identify risks and logistical bottlenecks, providing essential insights to define standard operating procedures (SOPs) for ATMP transport. The first test shipment has just left Brussels Airport (photo).
Building on Pharma.Aero’s PTL Project Foundation
The PTL Gateway project builds on the foundation of Pharma.Aero’s Precision Therapy Logistics (PTL) project, launched in 2024. This earlier initiative provided crucial insights into the challenges of transporting ATMPs, including temperature control, regulatory hurdles, and supply chain risks. The success of the PTL project paved the way for this expanded effort, further refining logistics solutions to support the safe and efficient global distribution of precision therapies.

PTL Gateway Project: A Collaborative Effort
The PTL Gateway project is a collaborative effort involving Air Cargo Belgium, at.las ATMP, Brussels Airport, Pharma.Aero, and POM Antwerpen. It has received financial support from Provincie Antwerpen and Smart Hub Vlaams-Brabant, with Smart Hub Vlaams-Brabant recognizing PTLG as a pioneering force in specialized medical transport and awarding it a €149,862.50 grant.
This milestone would not have been possible without the commitment and collaboration of industry leaders, logistics providers, and regulatory bodies. Pharma.Aero is proud to see its members and partners actively participating in this groundbreaking initiative, shaping the future of precision medicine logistics.
