Since March 2001, Athens International Airport keeps offering high-level services, having earned the trust of airlines, passengers, partners, and stakeholders. Having welcomed throughout this period more than 370 million passengers, over 4 million flights and more than 2,226 thousand tonnes of cargo, the airport keeps creating significant value for the national, regional & local economy, its shareholders, all stakeholders, and the wider public, continuously seeking to enhance the connectivity of Athens, as a city-break, year-round sustainable destination.
Athens International Airport has received its IATA CEIV Pharma certification in 2023. Since 2016, AIA is the first carbon neutral airport in Greece. Also, it is the first European airport to launch multi-modal flows in the form of the combination of maritime, road, and air traffic.
Cargo Development at Athens International Airport (AIA) oversees all freight and mail handling activities, acting as the coordinator and facilitator of the airport’s cargo community and spearheading new developments.
