New Podcast | Testing Transatlantic Shipments for Precision Therapies at Scale
The latest episode of Pharma.Aero’s podcast features an in-depth discussion about the future of precision therapy logistics and the critical infrastructure needed to support it. Freek De Witte, Director of Air Cargo Belgium, and Frank Van Gelder, Secretary General of Pharma.Aero, deep dive into the pioneering Precision Therapy Logistics (PTL) Gateway project — focusing on the creation of an integrated and safe logistics model for precision therapies.
Over 100 test shipments will be carried out, back and forth between Antwerp and Dallas. These test shipments will provide insight into the weaknesses of the current supply chain for precision therapies and serve as a basis for developing a standardized approach in the next phase of the project.
The Hard Truth About Readiness
“If this system were implemented tomorrow, would the current airport infrastructure be at scale to support it?
— Well, let me be very clear on that one. No.”
Building the Future Before It Arrives
“I wouldn’t build the garage two years before I get the car. But I’d definitely be planning for it.”
Patient-First Innovation
“Why don’t we bring the patient to the airport instead of the product to the patient?”
From Shoebox to System Failure
“We talk about shoebox-sized shipments… One person not knowing what it is can delay the whole chain.”
Pharma.Aero is proud to have laid the foundation for this groundbreaking project ensuring the reliable transport of precision therapies. Phase two of what started as our 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐲 𝐋𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 in 2024 is now officially launched with the first international test shipment from the University of Antwerp Science Park in Niel (Belgium) to BioLabs Pegasus Park – North Texas, Dallas (USA).
